Numbers game for Mowbray

Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray wasn’t ruling out making loan signings when the window re-opens again this week.

Mowbray is intent on keeping his options open but conceded that there would have to be departures ahead of any potential new arrivals.

“We might try again to bring somebody in but, in my mind, it would be potential outs for potential ins in the loan window,” Mowbray told the Evening Gazette. “So we’ll wait and see how the loan market goes but you can’t keep adding player after player to the group we’ve already got because in the end you end up with 30-odd players and at least 10 of them will be very, very unhappy.”

Nevertheless the likes of Merouane Zemmama, Stephen McManus and Nicky Bailey could be amongst those possibly being allowed to leave after failing to be involved much this season.
