Manager Tony Mowbray was intent on extracting only the positives as Middlesbrough suffered an unlucky 1-0 defeat in their Capital One Cup quarter-final at Premier League Swansea City.
An unfortunate Seb Hines own-goal with just nine minutes remaining was all that eventually separated the two sides during a game in which the visitors impressed for long spells.
However, Boro must immediately forget their disappointment and instead prepare for the arrival of Wolverhampton Wanderers to the Riverside on Saturday.
“The boys have been saying in the dressing room ‘let’s make sure we come back here again next year’,” Mowbray told the Northern Echo. “We now have to focus on picking up points in the Championship, take the positives from a performance against a team who have just beaten Arsenal 2-0 and whatever team I put out on Saturday will be competitive.”
However, Boro will first need to check on the likes of Grant Leadbitter, Faris Haroun, Andre Bikey and Justin Hoyte, who all suffered hamstring problems during the game, while Andy Halliday was discovering soreness in his Achilles.
