Middlesbrough are represented in the latest Football League team of the week that has been selected after this week’s action.

The performance by goalkeeper Darren Randolph in the one nil victory over Sunderland at the weekend at the Riverside Stadium was enough to earn them a place in the side alongside the other most impressive performers in the Football League pyramid.

I think we’ll already know ourselves, and not just based on the latest performance, why Randolph was selected as part of the team but explaining the choice – the FL blurb read.

‘Marcus Tavernier`s sixth-minute strike proved enough for Middlesbrough to take all three points against Sunderland in the Tees-Wear derby at the Riverside Stadium. Just moments beforehand, Randolph made a fine double save to keep out the visitors, and looked assured throughout, thwarting the Black Cats in their search for an equaliser.’

It’s always good to see the club represented in this way, and well played to Randolph for his recognition, but the most important thing about the weekend was of course the win.

Full Team:

Darren Randolph (Middlesbrough), Zeki Fryers (Barnsley), Yoann Barbet (Brentford), Ben Turner (Burton Albion), Jordan Spence (Ipswich Town), Callum O’Dowda (Bristol City), Jacob Butterfield (Sheffield Wednesday), Ruben Neves (Wolverhampton Wanderers), Gary Madine (Bolton Wanderers), Leon Clarke (Sheffield United), Tyler Walker (Nottingham Forest).

Manager – Jaap Stam (Reading).
