Middlesbrough striker Rudy Gestede has been successful with an appeal against the red card given to him at Norwich City.

That means the removal of a forthcoming three-match ban for the Benin international, who joined the Teessiders in a £6m deal from Aston Villa at the beginning of last year.

Gestede, 29, was brandished with a straight red midway through the opening half of the narrow weekend 1-0 defeat at Carrow Road having already been cautioned earlier in the game.

It would have ruled him out of the forthcoming meetings with Reading (H), Cardiff City (A) and Hull City (H).
