The referee has been confirmed for Boro’s home meeting with play-off rivals Millwall at the Riverside.
The game will be officiated by Paul Tierney from Lancashire, assisted by Matthew Wilkes and Sian Massey-Ellis, with Andrew Madley as the fourth official.
His current record for this season is 29 games with 75 yellow but no sending-offs.
He’s already refereed at Boro this term when the hosts twice came from behind to draw 2-2 with Brentford. Martin Braithwaite and Fabio with the home goals.
Brentford manager Dean Smith later claimed his side had a “stonewall” penalty turned down, and that Tierney had refused to shake hands at the final whistle following his complaints.
There were six players cautioned that day, including Boro’s Darren Randolph, Cyrus Christie and Patrick Bamford.
Boro were narrowly defeated 2-1 at Millwall in the reverse meeting before Christmas despite Stewart Downing being on target for the visitors after the break.
