Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray described his Manager of the Month award for October as being a reward for the whole club.

Boro remained unbeaten throughout the month and achieved five wins and a draw while moving up the table and easing into the quarter-finals of the Capital One Cup.

But rather than simply accepting the accolades solely for himself, Mowbray believes it to be more a reflection of all those people working ceaselessly alongside him.

“No manager wins any football matches on their own,” Mowbray told the Northern Echo. “It’s a reflection of the whole football club and not just my coaching staff.

“Avril, who cleans our desks and empties our bins, Darky who folds our kits and washes it every single day,” he continued. “Everything works when people do their jobs. You can create a feel-good factor by having good people right from the bottom to the top.”
