Mark Schwarzer has today revealed that he is not happy with the way Boro have been handling contract and says he may leave for this reason.
Schwarzer told BBC Sport ‘You would think with the more experienced players and the important players in the squad you would look to tie them down earlier and not let things drag on.
‘But for some reason, and unbeknown to most of us, Middlesbrough tend to leave it until very late to sort it out.
‘I’m not sure what I’m doing at the moment, my agent at the moment is in discussions with Middlesbrough and they’ve indicated that they want to offer me a new contract but, as yet, we haven’t agreed to any terms.
Schwarzer still has one year remaining on his current contract but says there is already interested from other clubs in England and Abroad.
The keeper has been with Middlesbrough for over ten years making over 400 appearances for the club. He was signed from Bradford for £1.5million.

this seems to be typical of boro’s lack of conviction in any direction, and it all stems from the manager. gareth southgate, in much the same way as david platt, will never be a top class manager. he got this job by default and when he loses this one, which cant be too far away, he will slide down the leagues until he leaves football altogether and opens a pub.
Another Premiership keeper on his way out after ten years service? A sad day indeed!
you gotta kep him, there’s not much better than him available to us.
