Middlesbrough manager Tony Mowbray will continue his search for new talent this week.

Already free-agents Nicky Bailey, Kieron Dyer, Stephen McManus and Julio Arca have left the club, while Andre Bikey’s immediate future remains unclear after an extension on his contract wasn’t exercised.

Added to those, on loan trio Sammy Ameobi, Josh McEachran and Ishmael Miller have each returned to their parent clubs.

“Recruitment is important for this club in the summer,” Mowbray told the Evening Gazette. “Let’s hope we can get some players that excite the supporters.

“We need to freshen the squad up, we need more core players who play week in, week out,” he added. “That’s what I’ll be working on. Even when I’m on holiday, my phone won’t stop ringing!”
