Boro Match Zone

Sheffield United v Middlesbrough

|

There’s a traditional ‘six-pointer’ this evening with Middlesbrough travelling to Sheffield United for a key Championship encounter at Bramall Lane (kick-off 7.45pm).

Boro currently hold a four-point advantage over their ninth-placed opponents with only five more games remaining of the regular season.

It’s the first of four successive meetings for Tony Pulis’ charges against promotion rivals with Bristol City, Derby and Millwall also lined up.

The Teessiders defeated Nottingham Forest 2-0 at the weekend while the Blades were simultaneously going down to a 3-2 loss at neighbours Barnsley.

With Brazilian defender Fabio returning for bench duties last time out, Boro therefore have only striker Rudy Gestede [broken ankle] ruled out of action.

United suffered no further injury problems in their South Yorkshire derby defeat, although defender Richard Stearman [hamstring] and goalkeeper Jamal Blackman [suspended] remain unavailable.

That leaves Simon Moore as again likely to feature in between the posts.
