Goalkeeper Jason Steele has told fans to stick with the club ahead of what he still believes could develop into a really big season for them.
Crowd levels at the Riverside have continued to suffer during Boro’s rather inconsistent start to their campaign in which they have won five and lost four of their opening ten league games.
However, the England Under-21 international was maintaining the season was yet in its very early stages and there was still a very long way to go before anything is decided.
“It hasn’t really settled down yet. There are weird results every week,” Steele told the Evening Gazette. “But as long as we can keep picking up points then we’ll stay in the mix. I probably wouldn’t even look at the table seriously until maybe Christmas-time.
“Then you get a real idea of where we are and where other teams are and then you can think about what we need to do to push on for promotion,” he added. “There’s a long way to go until then. If we keep getting results, then we have a chance.”
