New signing Kei Kamara has received his work permit and could make his Middlesbrough debut against Ipswich Town this weekend.

The 29-year-old arrives following a transfer deadline day move from MLS side Sporting Kansas City. Kamara was on recent international duty with Sierra Leone and is now eligible to appear for his new club.

“Kei will be in and around the squad,” manager Tony Mowbray told Boro’s official website. “The frustration, I suppose, is that he has done no work with the team and the organisation and preparation for this game. He’ll meet up with us at Ipswich.”

Fellow newcomer Jacob Butterfield should also be involved having being in training since the beginning of the month. He is likely to replace Hungarian midfielder Jozsef Varga, who suffered a hip injury whilst on international duty.
