Championship rivals Bolton Wanderers’ recent interest in Middlesbrough striker Marvin Emnes would appear to have noticeably cooled.

Manager Dougie Freedman is currently in the process of rebuilding his squad at the Reebok Stadium and is a known long-time admirer of the Dutchman.

There had even been talk of a serious offer arriving from the Trotters but it appears that Freedman has since begun considering new alternatives.

And while Boro chief Tony Mowbray hasn’t yet given up on the 25-year-old marksman the likelihood remains that a decent offer should be enough to secure his future elsewhere.

Emnes endured a difficult campaign last time around with injuries and off-field problems meaning he failed to seriously challenge his eighteen goals from the previous season.
