Middlesbrough striker Curtis Main made his comeback during their Barclays Under-21 Premier League victory over Aston Villa yesterday.
Boro eventually ran out 3-1 victors at Villa’s Bodymoor Heath training ground. Main was returning to action following four months on the sidelines since sustaining knee ligament damage back in September. The 20-year-old appeared to suffer no ill-effects when appearing for almost an hour of the game.
Christian Burgess headed the visitors in front from Luke Williams’ cross just before half-time, but was then penalised for a foul on Villa’s Daniel Johnson, who converted the 72nd minute penalty.
However, substitute Jordan Jones restored Boro’s lead with an 84th minute long-range strike and the impressive Williams soon added another direct from a free-kick.
