We are still short – Mowbray

Middlesbrough boss Tony Mowbray remains concerned by the lack of depth within his squad.

Boro completed a pre-season win against French cup winners Bordeaux over the weekend but Mowbray admits they are still lacking options at both ends of the pitch.

He still hopes to rectify that situation ahead of the opening game of the new league season against Leicester City on Saturday.

“It’s good to win our final pre-season game and it will give us some confidence going into the first game,” Mowbray told the Evening Gazette. “The signs were good and with the initial 13 or 14 players we’ve got, we should enjoy the season.

“And yet invariably they don’t stay fit for every game and we’ve got to have strength in depth,” he warned. “We’re trying to add one of two. There’s 10 or 11 gone out and we’ve only brought a couple in.”
