Middlesbrough striker Lukas Jutkiewicz believes he can still form a dangerous attacking partnership with Marvin Emnes at the Riverside.
Emnes scored twice against French cup winners Bordeaux in the latest pre-season friendly victory, during which Jutkiewicz also clearly presented his own claims for regular selection.
However, Boro manager Tony Mowbray is still hoping to recruit up front having recently lost Australian international Scott McDonald to Millwall.
“Hopefully me and Marvin can keep up the same vein. We have tried to play well together and put thoughts in to the manager’s mind that we can do that,” Jutkiewicz told the Northern Echo. “We have had to show we can do a job for him and hopefully we have done that.
“We know the manager’s looking to add to the squad in that area, you just accept that and train as hard as you can,” he added. “Ultimately you need to go out and try to win football games.”
