Manager Garry Monk felt Middlesbrough should have taken at least a point from former club Leeds United.

However, they eventually fell to goals from Pablo Hernandez and Ezgjan Alioski despite club record buy Britt Assombalonga replying from the spot late on.

“It wasn’t about me,” Monk told BBC Sport. “It’s about my team and the players on the pitch and we’re disappointed with the result and should have got more.

“I’ve great memories of this club and enjoyed my season here, but now I’m at Middlesbrough and my only focus is on them.” he added. “There weren’t many clear-cut chances for either team, but I think we definitely did enough to at least take a point away from this game.”
