Caretaker manager Steve Agnew believes Jonathan Woodgate will prove a real asset to his backroom staff.
Former Boro defender Woodgate has joined Joe Jordan and Paul Jenkins as part of a new-look coaching team at the Riverside.
“I’ve known Jonathan a number of years and he’s a proper football guy,” Agnew told Sky Sports. “I couldn’t believe how excited he was in terms of the coaching work – he can’t get enough of it. I’m sure he’ll prove to be a fantastic appointment.
“We’ve got a nice balance so I’ve been pleased. From what I’ve seen we have a real togetherness and feel for each other.”
Agnew takes charge for a second time at Swansea City this weekend following the departure of former manager Aitor Karanka earlier this month.
