New boy Mido scored his second goal in as many games as Boro came from behind twice to take a point against Newcastle.

Luke Young and Jonathon Woodgate both started for Middlesbrough which is a good sign for Boro fans, but it was Newcastle who was on the attack form the start. Obafemi Martins had a chance for Newcastle early on after being put through from Boro old boy Mark Viduka but the striker fired wide.

22 minutes in and Newcastle went ahead, N’Zogbia cut in from the left and shrugged off two challenges and hit a fierce shot high into the top-left corner of Mark Schwarzer’s net.

The goal seemed to wake Boro up and just minutes later Mido rounded Newcastle keeper Steve Harper and slid the ball into an empty net. Rochemback and Arca both tested Harper with good efforts on goal.

The second half got under way and you could tell that neither club wanted to lose, but that changed when Mark Viduka turned Woodgate and after teeing the ball up, smashed a shot past the helpless Schwarzer.

Again Middlesbrough seemed to react to going behind and with in minutes was back on level terms. Newcastle failed to clear their lines and Arca delicate volley earned Middlesbrough a draw.
