Gareth Southgate has been talking about his joy of signing Aliadiere from Arsenal.
Aliadiere completed his move from Arsenal yesterday for £2 million and Southgate is confident he will shine for his new team.
‘We feel Jeremie can add a tremendous amount to our team,’ said Southgate to the official website. ‘He’s got terrific technical ability and tremendous pace.
‘He gives us a number of options in terms of where he can play and we want to provide him with a platform to launch his career and I know he has a hunger to do that.
‘He’s a player we known about for a long time. One of his earliest games was against me actually, I suffered that day and it sticks in your mind. He’s a player who has a point to prove.
‘He’s been at Arsenal but he wasn’t prepared to sit there and be part of the squad.’
Aliadiere himself is confident he can make an impression at Boro, and he feels he has a point to prove to Arsene Wenger.
‘I think Gareth wants to create a team that goes forward with speed and a young team and it’s just what I like,’ he said at a press conference at Rockliffe Park this afternoon.
‘I haven’t played a lot at Arsenal and I’ve come here with a point to prove and to do what I can do. When you’re on the sidelines or on the bench it’s a bit difficult.’
Aliadiere only ever really played a bit part at Arsenal and was sent out on loan on a number of occasions.
