Middlesbrough chiefs are still expecting Marvin Emnes’ £1.5m move to Swansea City to go through.

Swans manager Garry Monk remains keen to complete the deal after the Dutchman impressed during a second loan spell with the club last season.

It is understood that a transfer fee was agreed between the two clubs several weeks ago but its completion has been held up by City chairman Huw Jenkins being away on holiday.

The deal would finally release welcome funds for Boro head coach Aitor Karanka to strengthen his own squad.
