New striker Kike was on target for the second successive game as Middlesbrough eased through 3-0 at Oldham Athletic in the Capital One Cup.
Luke Williams fired them in front when finding the top corner from distance on half-an-hour and Grant Leadbitter added another early in the second-half.
Spanish substitute Kike then ensured their would be no surprise with a sharp angled finish twelve minutes later.
Recalled defender Jonathan Woodgate had earlier headed over for the visitors and Leadbitter also went close before Williams opened the scoring in style from Bradley Fewster’s pass.
Adam Reach then crossed for Leadbitter to slot in a second goal and Kike later completed the damage before also going close to another.
