Boro close to deal

Middlesbrough are moving closer to signing Huddersfield Town midfielder Adam Clayton.

Boro have been in recent discussions with the 25-year-old over a potential £1.5m switch to the Riverside.

Fellow midfielder Jacob Butterfield was expected to move in the opposite direction and back to his native West Yorkshire.

It was hoped the deal would be finalised sometime on Wednesday.
