Middlesbrough are still working on completing deals ahead of their training camp in Portugal next week.

Manager Garry Monk remains hopeful of securing Norwich City midfielder Jonny Howson in a £5m move, reports the Northern Echo. Howson, 29, has already turned down the offer of a new deal at Carrow Road.

Meanwhile, Boro have recently switched their focus to Derby County full-back Cyrus Christie following fellow defender Chris Gunter signing a new three-year contract at Reading.

The Teessiders also know they must exceed the £8m rejected offered from Burnley for Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombolonga.
