Middlesbrough completed their campaign with their biggest away win of the season at relegated Yeovil Town.
Danny Graham, Emmanuel Ledesma (2) and Lee Tomlin were each on target during a seventeen-minute spell either side of the interval, with James Hayter replying.
Boro had already wasted an excellent chance when Graham missed from point-blank range following Nathaniel Chalobah’s break.
Recalled goalkeeper Jason Steele tipped over from Hayter at the other end before the visitors lost the services of loanee Chelsea midfielder Chalobah and he was replaced by Jacob Butterfield.
Yeovil keeper Marek Stech next denied Graham but then couldn’t hold onto Ledesma’s shot on the half-hour and the on loan Sunderland striker followed up to open the scoring.
The Teessiders almost doubled their advantage when Ledesma’s shot from the edge of the area came back off the crossbar.
Albert Adomah then saw a drive turned aside by Stech but it was the home side levelling when Luke Ayling’s cross was slotted in by Hayter.
Boro instantly reclaimed their lead through Ledesma finishing low from Graham’s pass, and Tomlim quickly added another after helping Steele’s long clearance beyond the oncoming Stech and tucking in.
The visitors introduced Adam Reach at the interval and he soon delivered towards the far post for Ledesma to net his second of the afternoon when acrobatically finding the bottom corner.
Two-goal Ledesma almost grabbed his hat-trick with a deflected free-kick thrust aside by Stech while Graham shot wide of an open goal after being set-up by Tomlin.
Their side continued to press on with Reach, Ledesma and Tomlin trying further efforts – but their final day victory was already long-since guaranteed.
