Dutch midfielder George Boateng picks his favourites to make the Euro 2008 final as he reflects on a tough Premiership season for Boro.

‘We had a great game against Manchester City in our last game of the season and I really enjoyed it. It was a very good way of saying goodbye to the fans who have been supporting us through a long, hard season.

‘Looking back it was a very tough season for Boro, with lots of ups and downs but at the end I was very pleased for the club that we were safe.

‘I have also followed the Euro games while I am on holiday and I have enjoyed some of the games, but I have to admit that I was destroyed when Holland lost against Russia. They deserved to win. Russia played very well and at the end they humbled Holland by the way they finished the game. I would give man of the match to Arshavin and I fully understand why all the top clubs are after him.

‘I think Holland lost because they couldn’t play the football that they have been playing and Russia had a very good attacking plan. Guus Hiddink knows the way Holland play and it was all about the execution of the plan.

‘I have many Turkish friends in Holland so I am very pleased that they are doing this well. My favourite to get to the final will be Spain and Germany as they look strong and they also have the players to go and win the final.’
