Robert Huth admits he should have quit Chelsea a year before he did, claim his footballing career ‘came to a stop’ after he wasn’t given a chance.
Huth always seemed to be a fans favorite at Stamford Bridge yet Mourinho always prefered the more expensive option, that said his Chelsea career wasn’t exactly the pinnacle of world football.
However Huth says he has no regrets.
‘Looking back now I should have done it a year earlier.
‘I was young and naive. I thought I could do it there. I wasn’t given a chance the year before. I thought it was my year.
‘I came to a stop career-wise. I had to move on but I don’t regret anything.’
Chelsea’s loss is our gain.

He would have had more playing time if he didn’t commit gaffes when he did play, such as the lapse against Charlton in the Carling Cup last year. Good luck to him at Boro!
What a lot of nonsense. This carthorse of a player was popular at Chelsea for only one thing… his rocket-propelled shooting from long distance. His defending was often dire, riddled with clumsy mistakes. It was a relief to be rid of him. There was a period of grieving when it was thought his transfer to Boro might be off.
Couldn’t agree more, he might have got more playing time if he’d been good enough. No where near challenging the likes of Terry, Carvalho, Gallas, Boulahrouz etc. I’d rather have reliable and versatile Paulo Ferreira at centre back. Maybe he’ll improve with a decent run of starts but there’s no reason why he should have got that at Chelsea.
Robert should thank his lucky stars that he got to learn from players like Marcel Desailly, Billy Gallas and John Terry. He was always out of his depth, and never really punched above his weight. That’s why he’s with the other Chelsea rejects at clubs like Boro, Birmingham and Newcastle.
He just never emerged into what we hoped he would so he had to leave!
