Head coach Aitor Karanka has warned against any complacency as Middlesbrough visit Oldham Athletic in the Capital One Cup.

The Boro chief refuses to underestimate the League One side while the Teessiders are aiming to build upon their impressive opening day victory over Birmingham City.

“Our biggest mistake would be to believe we are a better team than we are,” Karanka warned the Evening Gazette. “We have to be humble and know who we are, and we will go to Oldham with the same mentality.

“I know how important this cup is for the club,” he continued. “I will respect this because I’m a person who wants to win every single day.”
