Middlesbrough are hosting Championship side Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup third round this afternoon (kick-off 3.00pm).

Latest signing Rudy Gestede could make an immediate debut having joined the hosts this week in a £6m deal from Aston Villa.

“He gives us something different and I am pleased he is here so early in the window,” head coach Aitor Karanka told SkySports. “I will have to think but I don’t think he will start from the beginning on Sunday.”

However, midfield duo Grant Leadbitter [muscle] and Gaston Ramirez [knee] both require fitness checks, while defender Antonio Barragan and winger Viktor Fischer are already ruled out

The visitors are themselves without midfielder Kieran Lee [hip] and striker Gary Hooper is unlikely to recover in time.

But Almen Abdi could return having missed their last couple of games.
