Middlesbrough have recalled midfielder Matty Dolan from a loan spell at Hartlepool United.
Dolan, 25, had been expected to remain with the League Two club for the rest of the season after already appearing twenty-five times.
His Boro colleague, centre-back Christian Burgess, recently extended his own loan at Victoria Park until May. He has himself played twenty-nine games for Hartlepool this term.
“We thought we had a deal in place but Middlesbrough have changed tack a little bit and they want their new manager to have a look at all of their players,” United manager Colin Cooper told Hartlepool’s official website. “It is disappointing but we’ll get on with things. We have competition for places and this gives someone else an opportunity.”
