New signing Mido scored on his Middlesbrough debut.

The 24 year old Egyptian striker was handed a start by Boro boss Gareth Southgate just days after completing his £6 Million move from Spurs, and it took Mido just 55 minutes to score his first Boro goal.

Middlesbrough went behind on 16 minutes when Brian McBride was left unmarked in the box and the American finished from 8 yards out. It was McBride`s last contribution of day as he collapsed in agony as his left knee gave way.

Cattermole and Downing both wasted good chances for Boro mid way through the first half. Mark Schwarzer was on hand to block well from David Healy.

Jeremie Aliadiere came on at half time to replace Tuncay. Boro were pushing for the equalizer and on 55 minutes they drew level. Fulham keeper Warner somehow managed to palm Mido’s shot into the net, which handed the Egypt international a debut goal.

Aliadiere had a goal disallowed, the striker rounded keeper Warner before pushing the ball too far ahead of him, and he then pulled back Zat Knight and slotted the ball in to the empty net. The ref disallowed the goal and awarded Fulham a free kick.

With just minutes remaining Aliadiere slid a ball through to Cattermole who hit a first time shot past Warner.

Fulham should have got a point from the game after Healy poked the ball across the line, but the ref never gave the goal.
