Manager Tony Mowbray remains determined to lead Middlesbrough back into the Premier League.

While the playing squad are set to go their separate ways on their various summer holidays, Mowbray and his scouting team continue their search for fresh talent in preparation for next season.

Mowbray was away in Europe last week assessing possible new signings and will be doing exactly the same thing again over the coming days.

“I’m away again this week, the staff are away watching lots and lots of games,” he told the Northern Echo. “We’re in a fortunate enough position that other leagues are running beyond the Championship – France, Spain, Holland, Belgium, they’ve all got play-off matches and a few weeks to go so there’s people here still working very hard to see what is out there.

“We are out there looking at lots of different markets, free transfers, potential small signings, loans,” Mowbray added. “This job doesn’t stop. The phone doesn’t stop ringing. It doesn’t stop whether you’re away on holiday, sitting in your office or sitting at home at night, it doesn’t stop. There’s no break in the job really.”
