The Team of the Season so far based on statistical scoring points has now been released.
Eleven players – based on a formation of 442 – made the cut based on the statistical analysis of their performances across the Premier League season so far and Arsenal, Everton, Hull City, Manchester City, Manchester United, Middlesbrough, and Tottenham Hotspur all feature.
The fact that not a single Chelsea player does at this stage of the year will raise it’s own questions for some and the eyebrows of others, but I imagine when it comes to statistical analysis it’s possibly easier for other players to shine when they stand out and perform well, as opposed to a team clicking together.
WhoScored.com‘s weekly post game updates have compiled the Team of the Season so far and here’s what it is.
Full Team:
Goalkeeper – Joel Robles – Everton
Right Back – Callum Chambers – Middlesbrough
Centre Half – Harry Maguire – Hull City
Centre Half – Jan Vertonghen – Tottenham Hotspur
Left Back – Aleksandar Kolarov – Manchester City
Right Midfield – Ross Barkley – Everton
Centre Midfield – Ander Herrera – Manchester United
Centre Midfield – Paul Pogba – Manchester United
Left Midfield – Alexis Sanchez – Arsenal
Striker – Harry Kane – Tottenham Hotspur
Striker – Romelu Lukaku – Everton
Whether this is the final Team of the Season when the last match ticks by and WhoScored apply the final statistics waits to be seen but I think everybody reading that will have some reservations about a few of the selections.
But football would be a pretty boring game if we all agreed on everything wouldn’t it.
