Southgate Making All The Right Moves

Upon browsing through the differing search vehicles looking for the latest piece of Middlesbrough-related gossip, I came across a nice piece on Gareth Southgate.

It was so nice, in fact, that I instantly thought that I should share it with you.

The writer clearly sums up the resolve, intelligence and guile that have made Southgate one of the most promising up-and-coming English managers in the league.

He states that the manager isn’t afraid to put across his point, either during matches to his players or in post-match press conferences to the media.

Southgate is a leader, but also is very smart, articulate and knows what he’s doing. The way in which he has nurtured the Boro Babes from the youth academy into a respected league side is admirable.

The manner in which he brought in Afonso Alves, took him under his wing, protected him from outside sniping and allowed him to flourish in his own time, has been justly rewarded by the Brazilian.

The author of this particular piece believes that Southgate could be the next big thing in managerial stakes.

And Rightly So!

Yes, great stuff. He has handled Alves very well – just like Ferguson does when he brings in new players. The gaffer is improving all the time and it is a brilliant to have a young, forward thinking, intelligent and respected man in charge.

Agreed about the manner in which he brought Alves in.

I would also add the way in which he has handled Julio Arca’s poor form has been exemplary.

And Rocky wanting to leave 🙂
It’s not easy being a Premiership manager 🙂

Yes, he has handled Julio very well. Looked alot better on Sunday that what he looked like before he got dropped.

  • Boro 01 says:

Not many managers would have come out publicly and been so honest; admitting that the player had been having some poor form and that he was going to rest him for a while.
