Middlesbrough’s young striker Charlie Wyke has joined League Two AFC Wimbledon on loan.
The 21-year-old previously netted twice in 26 games in a similar arrangement at neighbours Hartlepool United last season.
Wyke goes to the capital for an initial month and is eligible to face Wycombe Wanderers this weekend.
“We looked at Charlie last season and we have monitored him since then,” manager Neal Ardley told Wimbledon’s official website. “He comes highly recommended from contacts that we’ve got in the north and we’ve watched Charlie play this season for the Under-21s.
“Middlesbrough have been very good with us in this deal because it requires hardly any financial outlay,” he added. “Charlie is an out-and-out striker and we can certainly have a look at him during January.”
