Australian international striker Scott McDonald continues to push for a recall into the Middlesbrough first-team.
The 29-year-old was on target during a private friendly with Sunderland on Thursday before the visitors fought back to win courtesy of a couple of Ryan Noble goals.
McDonald hasn’t actually featured since the end of last season but there were suggestions from manager Tony Mowbray earlier this week of a possible return.
The game at Rockliffe Park did though witness an unfortunate injury to Boro defender Stuart Parnaby, who dislocated his jaw and is set to be out for a couple of weeks.
