The Daily Mail today reports that Boro are lining up a £3.5m deal for Nicolae Dica, 27.

Dica plays for Steaua Bucharest as a striker, and his contract expires in the summer, meaning his club are willing to lower his £5.8m valuation.

If my memory serves me right, Dica scored against Boro in both legs of the 2006 UEFA Cup Semi-Finals. He has also been linked with Aston Villa and Benfica

    We are desperately short of firepower, even if Aliadiere and Tuncay are starting to look good. This guy sounds pretty decent, but is it worth the risk bringing in someone in January with no previous Premiership experience?

    me neither. baros, aliadiere, tuncay, mido is a great strike force. one that surely would be too good to go down
