Middlesbrough has accepted a bid of £11.25 million for Nigerian international from Everton.
Yakubu is now in Merseyside having talks with David Moyes. Yakubu was missing from the side that won 2-1 on the weekend against Fulham.
The 24 year old forward has made 103 appearances for Boro and scored 35 times. Yakubu signed for Boro just over two years ago from Portsmouth for £7.5 million.
The sell of the Yak will be a big blow for Boro fans who have already seen striker Mark Viduka leave for free and join Rivals Newcastle.
