Middlesbrough`s Afonso Alves claimed the joint second highest score of the week for a striker in The Actim Index, the official player ratings system of the Barclays Premier League.

Alves posted 36 points – his best score since joining the Teesiders – to move 79 places up the Index to 389th with 41 points.

The Brazilian scored with two sublime finishes against Premiership leaders Manchester United from only 5 shots, in addition to contributing 5 passes.

Boro have four players in the top 100 with Stewart Downing (334) in 56th and Luke Young (309) in 67th while Mark Schwarzer (306) is two places further back and Jeremie Aliadiere (273) sits 97th.

The Actim Index is calculated using a unique mathematical formula that rates each player`s contribution be it goals, shots, passes, dribbles, tackles, crosses, saves, clearances, blocks, interceptions, assists, clean sheets, time on the pitch or number of points gained by the team with marks deducted for red and yellow cards.
