Middlesbrough are still looking to bring in Chelsea forward Patrick Bamford on loan.
The 20-year-old previously scored eight times in 23 games whilst on loan to Derby County last season. He has also had a couple of earlier stays with MK Dons.
“We are working on Bamford,” head coach Aitor Karanka told BBC Sport. “I have spoken with Jose Mourinho, everybody knows how important a player he could be for us.
“I hope that he can be with us but it is not in my hands,” he continued. “We would like to have a squad with a lot of quality so there is competition for the players.”
Boro were though able to include new full-back Damia Abella in their late 1-0 defeat at Leeds United after receiving the necessary international clearance.
