Middlesbrough are still looking for their first league points since the turn of the year as they host Barnsley at the Riverside this weekend.

Manager Tony Mowbray must make a late decision on former England defender Jonathan Woodgate (calf), while strikers Ishmael Miller (ankle ligaments) and Scott McDonald (back) are still ruled out.

However, fellow forwards Muzzy Carayol and Curtis Main are both in contention having recently returned to action following knee trouble.

“Muzzy is a huge positive for us and the fans will be excited by him,” Mowbray told Boro’s official website. “He brings what we missed last year, a bit of thrust from the middle to the front, which is why he was brought in.

“I hope, without putting a huge burden on him, that he brings a different ingredient to the team that will really help in the remainder of the season,” he added. “He can add a dimension that we haven’t got and we’re looking forward to having him back and making an impact.”

Barnsley boss David Flitcroft will decide whether to hand latest signing Jason Scotland his first start after scoring from the bench in both of his first two appearances for the club.

Otherwise, defender Jim McNulty (hamstring) is doubtful and midfielder Stephen Dawson has ankle ligament damage.
