Middlesbrough have completed the signing of Huddersfield Town midfielder Adam Clayton for an undisclosed fee.
The 25-year-old arrives on a four-year deal having made 94 appearances and scored a dozen goals during two seasons with the Terriers.
Fellow midfielder Jacob Butterfield moves in the opposite direction following 32 games for the Teessiders last season. Butterfield, 24, has also agreed a four-year deal.
“Adam is another player who will improve our squad and I’m delighted to welcome him to Boro,” head coach Aitor Karanka told Boro’s official website. “He is a strong player and a strong character and just the sort of person I want in my squad.”
Clayton becomes the sixth new arrival at the Riverside and follows Kike, Emilio Nsue, Tomas Mejias, James Husband and Kenneth Omeruo.
