Middlesbrough defender Ben Gibson has received a first call-up for England Under-21s.
Gibson has been included in the squad to meet Wales in a UEFA qualifier at Swansea City’s Liberty Stadium next Monday evening, and then the forthcoming Toulon Tournament.
He appeared thirty times for the Teessiders while scoring his first senior goal this season, in the process earning himself double recognition in the club’s Young Player of the Year awards, and attracted the attention of England Under-21 and former Boro manager Gareth Southgate.
Ex-loan midfielder from this season, Chelsea’s Nathaniel Chalobah, is similarly included.
