Boro Drop Point Closer To Drop!

After today’s round of Barclay’s Premier League fixtures Boro have fallen down to 14th, and now sit just four points clear of the drop zone.

The reason for that is Birmingham’s 1-1 draw with Derby at St Andrews’. The Blues could, and should, have won but for Villa’s 89th minute equaliser. Brum are 18th on 21pts, while Derby remain rooted to the bottom on 9pts.

Reading dropped to 17th after losing 2-0 at home to Bolton. Kevin Nolan and Heidar Helguson were in with the goals, as Bolton leap-frog Boro into 13th. The Royals have 22pts to their name, while Wanderers have 25pts.

Also at the bottom end of the table, Wigan beat West Ham at the JJB to jump up to 15th place. Kevin Kilbane’s goal was the only thing seperating the two sides after 90 minutes. The Latics now have 23pts, while the Hammers sit on a comfortable 36pts in 10th.

At the other end of the table Arsenal put breathing space between themselves and the chasing pack with a 3-1 win over Manchester City. Goals from Emmanuel Adebayor (2) and Eduardo Da Silva were enough for the Gunners, despite Fernandes’ reply. Arsenal sit in 1st on 60pts, while City are 6th on 41pts.

Manchester United dropped two points at White Hart Lane, but were lucky it wasn’t more. Dimitar Berbatov’s goal appeared to be giving Spurs the win, until an own goal from Michael Dawson in the 90th minute. United fall to 2nd on 58pts, while Spurs remain 11th on 29pts.

Chelsea also lost ground on the Gunners, being held 1-1 at Fratton Park. The Blues took the lead through Nicolas Anelka, before Jermain Defoe bagged the equaliser on his debut. Chelsea remain 3rd on 54pts, while Pompey are 9th on 38pts.

Elsewhere, Blackburn and Everton drew 0-0, after Andy Johnson’s goal was wrongly ruled out for offside. The result sees Rovers in 8th place on 39pts, while the Toffees remain in 4th on 44pts.

A win for Boro tomorrow in the Tyne-Tees derby would see them move into 12th on 28pts, and seven away from the drop. A point would take them back above Bolton.

🙁 I forgot to mention the fact we have a game in hand on everyone else. Hopefully tomorrow will see us move comfortably clear of the drop zone.

Tomorrow we’ll hopefully be 7 points clear and comfortably in 12-th position 🙂

Yeah, and hopefully that will be the end of all this relegation nonsense.

If we win against Fulham it will be the end of it. Hope the guys can concentrate and don’t let them take the lead, but if you look at the way that Robert and David are playing I will be surprised if Fulham manage to make a shot on goal 🙂
