Middlesbrough are looking to sign Walsall’s highly-rated forward Jamie Paterson ahead of Championship rivals Nottingham Forest.
Boro are believed to be keen on the 21-year-old after recently missing out on Burton Albion winger Jacques Maghoma, who instead elected on a move to Sheffield Wednesday.
However, Forest are understood to have already agreed a transfer fee and are now ready to discuss personal terms.
But Boro could yet snatch the promising attacker who scored thirteen goals in 51 appearances for the Saddlers last season.
