As we all know our form in the past has been patchy at best, to do well in football you need consistent results, and good ones at that.
All too often we follow up a resounding win with a performance more akin to a wet fart than a heroic battling effort.
After a fantastic win over our local rivals, it is imperitive that we build on the foundations created yesterday, we need to follow up with another win.
Confidence breeds success.
Boro winger Stewart Downing knows the score.
‘It is a great win for us,’ Downing said.
‘Building on the Everton result is what we wanted – to be more consistent. It is about consistency. To beat Everton and Newcastle, two massive teams, is great for us. We have got to build on this. Man City is the next game and we will go there with confidence and go to win.’
It’s good to see some of our players have their heads screwed on, but saying and doing are two completely different things.
