Middlesbrough are being linked with a loan approach for Wolverhampton Wanderers striker Kevin Doyle.

The 30-year-old Republic of Ireland international still has eighteen months remaining on his existing contract but is currently out-of-favour at Molineux. He has scored only three times in 24 appearances for the League One promotion hopefuls this season.

Doyle previously netted 56 goals in 163 games for Reading until joining Wolves for a club record £6.5m fee in June 2009. That followed earlier spells at Cork City and St Patrick’s Athletic.

He has 56 full international caps and twelve goals to his credit since making his debut against Sweden at Lansdowne Road in March 2006.
