Middlesbrough midfielder Gaston Ramirez has joined Italian side Sampdoria for an undisclosed fee.
The 26-year-old playmaker was signed from Southampton in January 2016 and scored nine goals in 44 appearances at the Riverside.
He was linked with a possible move to Leicester City twelve months later – and then saw a potential switch to Real Betis collapse.
There had also been interest from both Nantes and Freiburg this time.
