Middlesbrough have signed Nottingham Forest striker Britt Assombalonga in a new club record deal believed to be around £14m.

The 24-year-old marksman only secured a new five-year deal at the City Ground in September 2016 and has an overall return of 30 goals in 47 Championship starts.

He scored fourteen of those in 32 appearances last season having originally joined from Peterborough United in August 2014 – once again for a club record fee of around £5.5m.

“I can’t wait to get started and train with the boys. I’m glad it’s completed and I can focus on what’s ahead now,” Assombalonga told Boro’s official website. “I can’t wait to meet the manager and get ready for next season. There’s a good feeling around the place. From the minute I walked in it felt right.”
