Middlesbrough striker Patrick Bamford was delighted to open his account against Chesterfield at the warm-weather training camp in Portugal.
The 23-year-old slotted in a second-half penalty after Adama Traore was fouled inside the area as his colleagues secured themselves a comfortable 2-0 victory.
Fellow forward Cristhian Stuani had earlier begun the scoring inside the opening twenty minutes of the pre-season friendly.
“I was frustrated I didn’t score against Oxford on Wednesday so whether it was a penalty or a tap-in, I’d have taken anything because it’s nice to score early on,” Bamford admitted to Boro’s official website. “It’s been a very enjoyable week and good for us all.”
