Middlesbrough are rumoured to be monitoring West Bromwich Albion defender Craig Dawson.

However, Boro are likely to find plenty of competition for the 27-year-old, according to the Sunday People, confirm the Birmingham Mail.

The Baggies are currently rooted to the foot of the Premier League and should relegation be confirmed, there is likely to be significant player departures at the end of the season.

Local rivals Aston Villa are also keeping tabs while top-flight Burnley are another showing regular interest.

Dawson, who arrived from Rochdale in August 2010, is under contract at the Hawthorns until 2020, and already has over 150 senior appearances for the club.

Despite being well-served by Ben Gibson and Daniel Ayala, Boro would doubtless welcome another option at the back, and former Albion manager Tony Pulis is believed to be an admirer of a player who can also operate at right-back.
